No, and it’s a fair question. MLMs make money by recruiting other people to buy a product. This is structurally different: you earn a percentage of the transaction fees a business pays to process credit cards. There’s nothing to buy, no one to recruit, and no downline. Your income comes from real commercial activity — businesses running real transactions. Cobalt is a registered payment processor. This is a standard referral partnership model used across the financial services industry.

Any business that takes a credit card is a potential referral. Your Partner Manager will help you map your existing network and identify 10–20 businesses you can reach out to in your first month.

Most partners submit their first referral within two weeks of joining. Once a business is approved and processes their first transaction, they become an active account. Your first residual payment is calculated at the end of that first full month and paid on the 15th of the following month. Many people receive their first check within 30–45 days of signing up.

If a business stops processing through Cobalt, the income from that account stops — that’s standard for any referral program. However, Cobalt businesses stay an average of 4.2 years, well above industry average, because we’re genuinely saving them money and providing good service. Your Partner Manager also monitors your accounts proactively and steps in if any business shows signs of leaving.
